Class Snacks
Does your child get hungry throughout the day? I know that I do, but we need to make sure that snacks are healthy to help the kids concentrate. In our class, the kids eat when they are hungry. We do not take a break to eat. Each child should be bringing a healthy snack. Snack with a lot of sugar make the kids antsy and unable to concentrate. This is setting them up to fail. As a result, no high sugar snacks, candy, or chocolate will be allowed in class. A recommended list of foods would include fresh fruits and vegetables, cheese, yogurt, dried fruit, canned fruit, and applesauce. As I learn about which food allergies are in our class, the list may change.

Birthday Treats
We would love to celebrate your child's birthday!! The only thing to keep in mind is that in second grade, we have a strict no edible treat policy. Any edible treat brought in to class will be sent home with your child. If your child would like to bring in something to share with his/her friends, we have 25 kids in our class. Some alternative ideas from previous years have been: a book for the class, a game for indoor or outdoor recess, a pencil or eraser for each child, or a small toy for each child. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Water Bottles
It is important for our bodies and our brains to stay hydrated during the school day, so please make sure that your child has a re-usable, easily-closed water bottle at school. They will be sent home once in a while to be washed and we will refill them with fresh water daily. Thank you! Please also remind your child to bring their water bottle home at least once a week so that it can be washed or replaced. Any unclaimed water bottles left here at the end of the year will be thrown out.
